At Advance Machining & Gear, we are experts, offering contract CNC Machining and Production CNC Machining using CNC Lathes and CNC Mills. So what does “CNC” machining mean, and what does it mean for our customers?

CNC stands for “Computer Numerical Control,” a process where a computer “controller” reads code commands to automate machine tools.

The introduction of CNC machines radically changed the manufacturing industry because with a CNC machine, curves are as easy to cut as straight lines, complex 3D structures are relatively easy to produce, and the number of machining steps that require human action is dramatically reduced. Because of these changes, the end product has considerable improvements in the consistency and quality of the parts machined. In addition, not only does CNC machining automation reduce the frequency of errors, but it also provides the CNC machinist with time to perform additional tasks, allows for more flexibility in the way parts are held in the machining process, and lessens the time required to change the machine to produce different components.

CNC machining is used in a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, heavy equipment, printing, marine, prosthetics, material handling, robotics, packaging, specialty equipment, etc. In many cases, CNC machining has dropped cycle times by over 90 percent compared to conventional machining.

We handle quantities from 50 to 50,000. Our CNC lathes are capable of machining parts up to 24” in diameter, and because of the efficiencies of our high production CNC lathes, our lead times in turning are typically short.

Most of our CNC mills do full 4-axis milling, which is our most requested service. If your part is smaller than a golf cart, we can machine it!

Our staff of CNC machinists have extensive years of training in CNC machining.
